Graduation

Timothy worked hard and studied through 12 years of college and all that work is finally paying off.  On Monday, June 18th, 2012 Timothy graduated with a PhD in Music Theory.  As the kids say, "Daddy is a music doctor."
We are proud of all the hard work Timothy has put into his studies and glad to see him graduating. (It'll be so nice to have him done with school- the first time in our married life that he won't have to study every evening!)

Hooray!

Way to go Timothy!

All his hard work, research, and studying has paid off. Timothy got offered a job at Dixie State College in Saint George, Utah! We are very excited about the job and are looking forward to being closer to family! He will be teaching Music Theory, Composition, and Trombone.

Timothy will be graduating in June with his PhD in Music Theory. (As long as he can finish the final draft of his dissertation.) One the kids took this picture.

Look out Saint George here we come!

"Jack", "Annie", Mr. Pull-up Head, unicorns, and More

What Hyrum did after going potty- he was "washing his hands"... Apparently with A LOT of soap! Our bathroom sink doesn't have an extra drain to prevent overflow so the water was about 1/2" deep on the counter and spilling all over the floor by the time I realized the water had been running for a while and ran in there.
Rebekah- AKA "Annie" From Magic Tree House. And there are two Jack's: the one with glasses, and the other one. So, when I want them to come out of Frog Creek woods I have to call, "Jack, Annie, Jack! Time to come home." They have their very own Magic Tree House (bunk bed) in Frog Creek Woods (bedroom). I play a dual role as Mother and Morgan LaFey.

Can you guess what books we've been reading a lot of lately? Currently we're on Magic Tree House #22. And they are anxious to continue reading until we get through all 47.

Brigham's block creation on top of the piano bench.

Many times during the last month I have looked at the phone cradle and found a different phone than I expected sitting there "charging". These picture were taken on three different days.

Exhibit #1 Wooden Phone that belongs with the kitchen set.

Exhibit#2 Yellow Phone that used to go beep beep but doesn't anymore

Exhibit #3 Red and White Phone that changes animals every time you open it.

The latter two phones used to "do" something but now don't. I wonder if the children thought if they charged them they would work again. I have no idea why a block of wood in the shape of a phone would need charging, but hey, when you're a preschooler anything can make sense, right?

Here we have a boy that has gone through some plastic surgery in order to change the appearance of his eye. What do you think of the change? (He performed the surgery himself even!)

This is the kind of face we see often on this boy. Maybe I should tell him the old wives tale that if you make a funny face too long it might stay forever....nah...he'd actually try it.

This is also a common sight in our home. Little Miss Bekah chews her poor blanket to bits! I'm sure glad I'm not that blanket...although I have had a finger still in it when she's bitten down... that I hope never happens again. She's got one strong jaw!

And next for your viewing pleasure- four friendly unicorns. It's kind of hard to see, but each of the unicorns has a horn made of hair- just like rhino's horn. (Even the boys have ponytails holding up their hair in front.) They also have different colored tails. (They asked me to put ponytail holders on the back of their shirts to make unicorn tails.) They sure enjoyed being unicorns for an afternoon!

Last week we got out the old trombone and let the children try playing it. They actually did fairly well buzzing and making sounds in it.

And lastly we have Mr. Pull-up Head. He is showing the latest fashions in wearing Pull-Ups and bibs. (notice he has at least 2 layers of bibs on)
These amazing children sure keep us laughing with all the silly things they come up with. They sure are a blessing to our family.

Time Out for Mommy

This past weekend I was able to go fly to Utah to be with my Mom and two sisters for Time Out for Women. I flew in early on Friday and we spent the morning at the Museum of Church History and Art- which was awesome to see all the exhibits. Then, in the afternoon we went to lunch and shopping at the Gateway Mall in Salt Lake City. The picture below is at the Gateway Mall:

Katherine, Tasha, Mom (Konnie), and Me (Jessica)

This is us being silly right before the Time Out for Women conference started.

The one below is of us on Saturday during one of the breaks.

It was so nice to visit with some of my family and be spiritually uplifted and also get a break from the daily work at home. I sure missed Timothy and the children, I think I called them four times while I was gone. But, the break was nice and it was so good to spend time with some of the wonderful women in my life!

My quilts

These are the quilts I made for the children for Christmas. I started in August and thought it was plenty of time to get them done. But things kept coming up that prevented me from working on them for weeks at a time. And by November I was starting to wonder if I would get them done in time. But, I did. I finished binding the boys quilts on Christmas Eve.

Dear Blog Readers

Dear Blog Readers,

I am so sorry for all of you who faithfully check my blog and have not seen anything new for the past two months. I have been very busy with my children and holidays. What took a lot of my evenings was sewing the quilts I made for my children. I hope you will keep reading even if it takes me two months to post something. I have posted these posts with the date that I wish I had posted them. :)

Enjoy! I wish I were more creative.

Umm...

Merry Christmas!

We wish you a Merry Christmas!

We had a great Christmas this year. We decided to stay home this year. My Mom, two sisters and a niece came to visit us on Christmas afternoon and stayed for several days.

We ended up celebrating Christmas on Monday the 26th so that Grandma, Aunt Brittany, Aunt Tasha, and Mikayla could be with us.

There aren't a lot of Christmas pictures, but we did get a few.

I made quilts for the children for Christmas, but pictures of those will have to come in a different post because pictures haven't been taken yet.

We were also able to go to a rest home- we sang to and visited with a few people there and hope that made their Christmas a little merrier.

Hyrum got glasses!

This was a rough transition for Hyrum- going from never wearing glasses to having to wear them all the time.

He sure looks good in them. He's gradually getting better and better about keeping them on and not being so rough in them. He's started taking them off and handing them to me or putting them on his dresser when he knows he's going to be rough-housing. That's very responsible for a three year old!

Brigham lost something

Brigham are you really old enough to loose teeth? I don't remember loosing teeth until 1st grade, you're not even in Kindergarten yet! Oh well. I guess you were ready because that new tooth sure came up fast!

Lunch anyone?

Brigham and Rebekah worked really hard to make lunch for their babies and themselves.

Looks pretty tasty- cars, tinker toys, syrup, milk pears, even a few little dolls!

Any takers?

Sleep!

One evening I found Rebekah sleeping like this.

She had a hands propping her head up. I wonder what she was looking at when she drifted off to sleep!

Not too long after the above mentioned incedent I found Hyrum sleeping half off his bed with his head resting between the bed and a chair next to his bed. Luckily I found him before he found the floor! I just thought this was funny and wanted to share!

Happy Halloween!

We had a good Halloween. The children weren't feeling very well for the church activity- so we jsut went to the dinner dressed up and then went home. We had to skip out on the games and trunk-or-treat. On Halloween we took them to three houses for trick-or-treating. Just the three families that are kind of like grandparents to the children. I was glad they didn't get a ton of candy and they were glad they got about 10 pieces of candy!

The children didn't have much say in what they dressed up as for Halloween. They either got to wear the costume I bought at the after Halloween sale in 2010 or they got to pick something from the dress up box. Luckily they all chose the costumes I bought after Halloween last year.

Rebekah was a Renaissance Princess

Brigham was a Fire fighter

Hyrum was a doctor

The end.

I can't believe my baby is THREE!

Hyrum just had a birthday and now he is three years old! Wow how the time flies.

He's been very interested in fire trucks lately. So I decided to make him a fire truck cake. He really liked it and kept asking to go and look at it. (I kept it locked in my bedroom so that little curious fingers didn't ruin it before the party.)

Here he is opening presents... He got a bunch of Little People sets we almost have enough to make Little People town.
One of Hyrum's latest skills is riding a bike with training wheels. He's been stealing Birgham and Rebekah's bikes to practice. So, when I saw one at a yard sale earlier this week I had to get it for him! He loves it!

Random info about Hyrum:
