First Day of school Pictures

Rebekah was excited, but nervous about going to school, now she loves it.

Brigham pretended to not like school for the first week. We'd ask him how school was and he'd get smile on his face, and then try to hide the smile!

school

Sorry to all of you who check my blog regularly. I haven't posted in almost a month. I'm on the computer that doesn't have the most recent pictures, so this will be a photoless post.

Brigham and Rebekah started school and are enjoying it. They are going to a local Head Start. (Yes, we're poor enough to qualify for Head Start, but that's what happens when Mom stays home and Dad's in school.) They have two amazing teachers and a good group of children in their class. Their teacher informs me that they are some of the better behaved children in the class and that she could tell I "work" with my children. I took that as a compliment!

Timothy has also started school. He's teaching two music labs and working on his dissertation. He's hoping to graduate with his PhD in June! This coming June, 2012! It will be weird not having him in school soon, because he's been in school our whole married life and longer!

We're also in the process of looking for and applying for jobs for the next school year. He want to teach and a community college or university, teaching music theory. If you know of any community colleges or Universities near you that have a music department, please let us know! (Especially if you want us to move near you!) The CC's aren't as good about posting their jobs on academic job sites so we may end up looking them up independently, but I haven't found a central location for lists of community colleges. (Sometimes they hide so as not to be noticed, I guess.)

Marc's first day of school

Marcus started Head start on Friday! He was so excited to be able to go to school. He's very sad that there isn't a bus for his class, though. So, he has to ride in the "white van" to school. His head start teachers are very expereinced. One has been teaching at headstart for 17 years and another has been teaching for about 30. They are amazing teachers and his classroom is full of top quality martials. He really lucked out getting into the program he did, because not all of the head starts around here are top quality.

First day of preschool

Brigham is starting a new preschool. His first day was Tuesday. He was so excited to ride a big school bus. He was all ready about 20 minutes early. Then, about the time his bus was supposed to come we waited outside.
Here he is waiting on the porch. Then waiting in the driveway. Finally, the bus comes!
He got to sit next to his friend, "Miss K", who is the only child care child I have right now. She just happened to be in the same special needs preschool and rides the same bus. (Makes it easier for the bus driver on days she's at our house.)

He had a great day at school. He said he got to play with play dough, and play in the sand box, and they got to make banana bread, but it was too hot so they couldn't eat it at school so he brought it home in a bag and ate it for lunch. He's very excited to go back tomorrow!

I hope this enthusiasm for school continues for the next 15-20 years!

First Day of School

Brigham and Marc got to start preschool this summer and are loving it! They are in a classroom with about 7 teachers and 10 students, plus service providers like speech pathologists and others. So they almost get one on one attention at school in a high quality environment! They sure love it!
They get to ride a "bus" (it's really a big 12 passenger van) and they got to get new back packs and new shirts! They decided on matching shirts. They love every minute of school!
